Caribbean Premier League is an annual T20 cricket tournament organized on the Caribbean Islands. The tournament was started in 2013 and is administered by Cricket West Indies. The tournament is contested by 6 teams representing various Islands of the Caribbean. It is played in a double round-robin and playoffs format. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots are the current Champions and Trinbago Knight Riders are the most successful team.
2022 Caribbean Premier League will be the 10th edition of the tournament which is scheduled to start from 30th August and will go on for 1 month till 30th September 2022. A total of 6 teams will participate and the tournament will be played on a Group stage and knockout basis. CPL 2022 Schedule
The tournament will start on 30th August and will go on for a month till its finals are played on 30th September 2022. 6 teams will be playing across 4 different venues in Caribbean Islands. The officials do not yet announce the schedule of the tournament and it will be updated as soon as any official announcement is made. Till then stay tuned for further updates.
Caribbean Premier League 2022 Teams and Squads
The tournament will be contested by 6 teams that will represent various Islands of the Caribbean. The squads have not been yet announced by the teams. The teams have however retained few players and further, we will look at the players retained by various teams.
Barbados Royals- Jason Holder(c), Obed McCoy, Kyle Mayers, Hayden Walsh Jr., Devon Thomas, Oshane Thomas, Nyeem Young.
Guyana Amazon Warriors- Shimron Hetmyer, Odean Smith, Romario Shepherd, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Keemo Paul, Gudakesh Motie.
Jamaica Tallawahs– Rovman Powell (c), Fabian Allen, Brandon King, Kennar Lewis, Shamarh Brooks.
St Kitts & Nevis Patriots- Dwayne Bravo(c), Evin Lewis, Andre Fletcher, Darren Bravo, Sherfane Rutherford, Sheldon Cottrell, Dominic Drakes.
Saint Lucia Kings– Roston Chase, Johnson Charles, Kesrick Williams, Alzarri Joseph, Mark Deyal, Jeavor Royal.
Trinbago Knight Riders- Kieron Pollard(c), Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Nicholas Pooran, Akeal Hosein, Jayden Seales, Tion Webster.
Caribbean Premier League 2022 Venues
All the matches will be played in 4 different venues across Caribbean Islands. The spectators have been allowed in the stadium and they will have to follow all the covid protocols. Below are the Stadiums that will host the matches.
Providence Stadium– It is the home ground of Guyana Amazon Warriors and was founded in 2006. The stadium had a capacity of around 15,000 spectators. The stadium is operated by Guyana Cricket Board and owned by the Government of Guyana.
Warner Park Sporting Complex– Warner Park was founded in 2006 and has a capacity of around 8,000 spectators. The ground is home to St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. It was one of the Hosts for the 2007 Cricket World Cup.
Daren Sammy Cricket Ground– This ground is located in Gros Islet, Saint Lucia. The stadium was founded in 2002 and has a capacity of 15,000 spectators. The stadium is renamed to honor Darren Sammy. This is the home ground of Saint Lucia Kings.
Trinidad and Tobago will also be hosting the matches of the Caribbean Premier League 2022.
