Elon Musk has denied that he is backing out of a fight with Mark Zuckerberg. And Ultimate Fighting Championship (UCF) president Dana White has said he is ready to organise an MMA bout between the tech billionaires.
Zuckerberg, who suggested August 26 as the date for a fight, recently claimed Musk was backing out of the battle. Zuckerberg wrote on Threads:
“I think we can all agree Elon isn’t serious and it’s time to move on. I offered a real date. Dana White offered to make this a legit competition for charity. Elon won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead. If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on. I’m going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously.”
Earlier in the day, Musk wrote on X:
“I joked on X about fighting Zuck
Zuck then said “SEND ME LOCATION”
Italy graciously offered a Colosseum
Zuck declined
I suggested his home as “safe space”
Tragically, he was ahem “traveling”
Is there anywhere he will fight?”
Musk’s assertions are not taken seriously by everyone.
Hamilton Nolan, writing for the Guardian, claimed, “Elon Musk won’t fight Mark Zuckerberg in a ‘cage match’ – because he knows he’d lose”.
Zuckerberg is an “inhumanly driven data nerd, the type of person who tracks workouts in spreadsheets and pursues physical training with the same unblinking devotion as writing code,” Hamilton wrote. “It’s possible to gripe about the disturbing joylessness of this type of person, but the relevant point here is that the robotic Zuckerberg would be guaranteed to dominate a squealing, petulant Musk in the cage absolutely.”
Zuckerberg, 39, has been training in BJJ and MMA for the past few years and has even won a BJJ tournament. Meanwhile, judo practitioner Elon Musk, 52, has recently claimed he is dealing with injury issues.
UFC president Dana White says he wants to promote the fight between the billionaires. White said he recently met Italy’s Minister of Culture and spoke about holding the fight at the Colosseum in Rome. He expected the fight to fetch $1 billion in revenue.
But Musk did not want the fight to take place under the UFC banner. He said it would be co-promoted by his and Zuckerberg’s foundations and live-streamed on X and Meta.
Zuckerberg, however, had other ideas. He said he would prefer the fight to take place in a major MMA organisation like the UFC or ONE Championship.
Dana White has an incredible suggestion: Elon Musk vs. Mark Zuckerberg, a titanic fight that might bring in an astounding $1 billion because of MMA Orbit’s observations. the scene of combat? It’s still unclear. Will this mega-fight take place at the UFC, or will a different venue be selected? White claims that both Musk and Zuckerberg will go through rigorous drug testing to maintain a level playing field.
