Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce is a renowned Jamaican 60 meter, 100 meter, and 200 meter sprinter who is widely regarded as one of the fastest women alive. She has achieved a remarkable array of accomplishments over a period of over twenty years (2002–2023), which has earned her a place among the most distinguished sprinters in history.
Fraser-Pryce is primarily known for her accomplishments as a sprinter, which has earned her a great deal of admiration and affection from the public and her supporters. However, outside of her athletic endeavours, it is Fraser-Pryce who is providing the support.
Fraser-Pryce’s non-profit organisation
Fraser-Pryce started a non-profit organization called “Pocket Rocket Foundation,” which aimed to provide scholarships to student-athletes between 12-18 years old. Fraser-Pryce started this in 2013, and back then she was able to award a total of seven scholarships that covered tuition, lunch, transportation, and books.
According to the Pocket Rocket, she started the foundation because she wanted to pay forward the love and support she received from Jeanne Coke, who funded her education and supported her all the way.
“When a stranger believes in you and supports you wholeheartedly, you start believing in yourself too. The fact that she had done that for me made me obligated to make sure I did the same thing for other student-athletes who are coming from an impoverished situation.” They are here, and a lot of their parents can’t afford to send them to school, so that they could become better individuals.”, Fraser-Pryce said.
Now, ten years later, the foundation has remained steadfast and continues to provide hope for the future generation.
On September 27, the Pocket Rocket Foundation announced the names of eleven student-athletes who will receive this year’s scholarship.

Each recipient will receive $100,000 towards their high school expenses (tuition, books, uniform, lunch and travel) to be redeemed annually as long as their exemplary academic standards and disciplined behaviour are maintained.
