Atlanta Hawks’ Jalen Johnson is forced to resign to the sidelines for the next 4-6 weeks because of his left wrist injury, as reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Via Charania on X: Hawks forward Jalen Johnson is expected to miss 4–6 weeks with left wrist injury, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Good news: Tests showed no fracture or need for surgery. Johnson is one of the NBA’s early Most Improved candidates, averaging 14.1 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 42.5% from 3.
Best-case scenario for Johnson after completing imaging on his left wrist since suffering the injury Saturday night in Washington. The 6-foot-8 product has emerged as a two-way force for Atlanta in his third NBA season. https://t.co/zzxFIBTpKc

Jalen Johnson’s injury
He sustained the injury during Saturday’s bout against the Washington Wizards. In the second quarter, Johnson was attempting to dunk on the rim when Kyle Kuzma, who attempted to block his shot, bumped into him mid-air, knocking him to the ground.
Johnson then fell into the stanchion and landed on his left hand.
The small forward took a few moments to get up because of the discomfort. Kuzma was sanctioned a foul, thus giving Johnson a chance at the free throws.

Writhing in pain, Johnson had forced himself to stand up and get to the line. With his left hand injured, he only attempted the shot with his right hand before exiting the court.
The Hawks then announced that Johnson wouldn’t be able to play in the game. Despite his absence, the team was able to win the match by a 28-point margin, 136-108.
Having spent his first two NBA seasons mostly on defense, Johnson has gotten off to an outstanding start for the Hawks this season, establishing himself as a dominant two-way player. He’s started 12 of the team’s 15 games this season, and now the fans are wondering who will play in his place.
According to multiple sources, the Hawks could be looking at Saddiq Bey.
With Johnson out, AJ Griffin may also return to the rotation, as per Sports Illustrated.
Atlanta Hawks’ record
Currently, the Hawks record is 8-7, placing them eighth in the overall Eastern Conference standings.
