While opinions within the WWE are divided about Punk’s comeback, Tony Khan, President of AEW, is presently under a barrage of criticism from fans. It was difficult for Khan to refocus after CM Punk’s unexpected WWE comeback became the topic of a barrage of comments on Khan’s Instagram post honoring the Jacksonville Jaguars’ victory.

CM Punk’s possible comeback to WWE following his departure from AEW was discussed by WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg on the ‘Oh You Didn’t Know’ podcast. Road Dogg hinted at the enthusiasm that Punk’s return may cause in the wrestling community while acknowledging that it would have a significant impact.
“I am the wrong guy to ask — that is the truth,” James said. “Because I cannot hire nor fire — that is out of sight of my paygrade. I did mention recently that he would move the needle [by returning to WWE], but truth be told, that comment was made a long time ago … or whenever that was. It just doesn’t seem like the right time to even talk about it, you know?
