Pacers

It’s been roughly fifty years since the Indiana Pacers won the NBA Championship in 1973. Time and time again, the Pacers continue to grovel in defeat and watch the other teams rise in the 20th century. Although they nearly came close to replicating their historic 1973 victory in 2020 when they reached the Eastern Conference playoffs, they ultimately got overpowered by the tenacious Miami Heat.

After their near-miss, though, the team would see a lot of losses in the following years. This all changed, however,  when the Indiana Pacers acquired Tyrese Haliburton in exchange for Domantas Sabonis.

Haliburton was a prolific shooter. The 6’5″ point guard posted an impressive 20.7 PPG, 10.4 APG, and 3.7 RPG in 56 games in the 2022–23 season, astounding Pacers fans and giving them hope for a better stint in the next season.

Haliburton: I’m tired of losing

And as the new season arrived, Haliburton set out and conditioned his mind to make the team win as many games as possible.

Although he has a couple of awards under his belt and was nominated for the fourth time in a row for the “Eastern conference Player of the Week” award, Haliburton says he’s left all of his individual aspirations behind for now and that he’s currently more focused on getting the team into the playoffs.

“I just want to get to the playoffs, not gonna lie. All the individual stuff is cool and I’ve accomplished a lot individually already, been an All-Star, which is the main goal of mine when I came to the NBA,” said the Pacers’ point guard.

“Obviously there’s more for me to achieve individually, but individual success is nothing at this point. I just want to win, I’m tired of being a loser,” he added.

How are the Pacers doing?

With a record of 9-8, the Pacers currently occupy the 7th spot in the Eastern Conference standings.

In their most recent matchup with the Miami Heat, the Pacers lost by a margin of 10 points, 142-132.

Even though they lost, Haliburton showed his grit through the game and finished with a 44-point, 15-28 FG, 6-16-3Pt, and 8-12 FT line, along with two rebounds, ten assists, one block, and three steals in 40 minutes, according to CBS Sports.
