In the middle of the ongoing Test match between India and England in the beautiful setting of Dharamsala and the breathtaking view of the snow-capped Himalayas, young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal achieved a record-breaking moment by scoring more than 700 runs in a single series. He is the only other Indian who was able to do this alongside Sunil Gavaskar.
With his exceptional skills and perseverance, Yashasvi Jaiswal was hailed the first Indian who scored a total of 1,000 runs in a Test match with only 16 innings.
This has demonstrated his undeniable talent in the field of international cricket, putting his name alongside other excellent players such as Sunil Gavaskar, Mayank Agarwal, and Cheteswahr Pujura.
Jaiswal making history
At the age of 22, he is now part of an exclusive group of Indian hitters who have surpassed 1,000 Test runs at a young age. However, Jaiswal’s talent in the sport, especially in batting, had led to comparisons with other finest players in Indian cricket history.
After hitting his 1,000th Test runs, his batting average became 71.43, which exceeded Vinod Kambli’s 83.33 and was a match with Cheteshwar Pujura’s current record. His statistics only proved his consistency and determination in the game, and how he can bring successful innings for his team.
In the series against England, Jaiswal had professionally amassed 26 sixes in just nine innings, which also made him the Indian batsman with the most Test sixes against a single team. His fearless demeanor and effortless ability to clear the boundary with ease had defined his playing style.
Now, he is climbing up the history ladder as one of players who has scored most runs in a single series in Test cricket, having 707 runs so far.
