Brooks Koepka, along with Jordan Spieth and Max Homa, will begin his PGA Championship title defense this season. Meanwhile, tournament contender Scottie Scheffler is paired with Wyndham Clark and his fellow major champions Brian Harman.
Koepka will play in the eighth group off the 10th tee in an attempt to become the first repeat champion of the competition since he won it in 2019. The five-time major winner makes his way to the competition after winning his fourth championship on the Saudi-sponsored LIV Golf circuit in Singapore.
A trio made up of Dustin Johnson of LIV Golf, Justin Rose, and world number two Rory Mcllroy—who won his 26th game on the PGA Tour on Sunday—will be playing two groups ahead.
Koepka’s title defense
Tiger Woods, moreover, who hasn’t competed in a PGA Championship since withdrawing due to his injuries following the third round in 2022, will start the tournament one group ahead of the others, along with Australian Adam Scott and Keegan Bradley. This will be Woods’ first competition since the Masters, wherein despite his injuries, he has made the cut at Augusta National for 24 times in a row. Unfortunately, he finished last among those who played during that weekend.
In addition, world number one and recent father Scheffler will be attempting to win his fifth tournament in multiple starts, alongside the current U.S. British Open champion Harman and Open champion Clark.
As for the forecast, it was reported that there would be cloudy skies and a 20% chance of rain on Thursday of the competition, followed by showers and thunderstorms on Friday, with the possibility of heavier downpours at times due to a low-pressure system.
