FIBA Basketball World Cup star Yuki Kawamura and collegiate All-Star Keisei Tominaga stand out as important players among the 24 selected for the Japanese men’s national basketball team training camp. The squad is getting ready for what should be a thrilling display of skill and preparedness in two Olympic practice matches later this month versus Australia.

Australia, who won the bronze in the Tokyo Olympics, will play Japan’s men’s basketball team at the Hokkaido Prefectural Sports Centre in Sapporo on June 22 and 23. Coach Tom Hovasse is in charge of the team. For the first time in 48 years, Japan’s men’s basketball team has qualified for the Olympics, making this an eagerly awaited event.

The men’s team qualified for the Olympics during the 2023 World Cup, which Japan proudly co-hosted with the Philippines and Indonesia.

Guard Kawamura of the Yokohama B-Corsairs is preparing for the next camp, as are a few other World Cup players from Japan’s B-League.

This outstanding team includes experienced guards Makoto Hiejima and Yuki Togashi, strong centre Josh Hawkinson, and adaptable swingman Yudai Baba. Their combined expertise and experience will raise the bar for the training sessions and produce a lively and captivating environment for players and spectators.

Motivated by a stellar performance that earned the Nebraska Cornhuskers a spot in the NCAA tournament earlier this year, 23-year-old Tominaga has high expectations for himself in the NBA. He is now seen as a promising player, anxious to establish himself professionally after his incredible last collegiate basketball season.
