Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from Ben Affleck after two years of marriage. She filed the paperwork on August 20.

One source told People magazine that the 55-year-old singer had said that it was time to move on.

The date of the filing coincided with the anniversary of their wedding, which had taken place in Georgia two years ago.

“She’s very disappointed and sad, but Ben hasn’t given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage. He hasn’t shown any commitment and interest in making their marriage work. It’s gotten to the point that she just needs to look out for herself,” said the source.

Interestingly, the famous singer filed for divorce without a lawyer, doing all the paperwork by herself. According to TMZ, she has also waived the right to spousal support and wants Affleck to be denied the same.

The couple do not have a prenuptial agreement so all earnings accrued within their marriage will be designated as community property.

The People magazine source also said that she had tried really hard to make things work and that she was heartbroken. “The kids are a top priority, as they always have been.”

Lopez first got married in February 1997 to Cuban actor and producer Ojani Noa. The marriage ended in January 1998. She then married for a second time in September 2001, this time to actor, dancer and choreographer Cris Judd. They filed for divorce in July 2002.

Her third marriage was to singer Marc Anthony, they tied the knot in June 2004. She had twins Max and Emme, (who are now 16) with him. Anthony filed for divorce in April 2012.

The Grammy award-winning singer started dating former baseball player Alex Rodriguez in 2017 and got engaged to him in 2019. They officially ended their engagement in April 2021.

Her soon-to-be ex, Affleck, was married to Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018. They have three children, Violet, 18, Fin, 15 and 12-year-old Samuel.
