The DP World Tour has suspended English golfer Marco Penge for betting on several events. However, the 26-year-old athlete did not wager on himself or in any competitions that he was part of.

According to the tour’s disciplinary tribunal, Penge’s wagers “had not compromised” the events he had bet on.

A three-month suspension has been imposed on the athlete, who recently finished his first full year on the European tour, with one month deferred for a year. Moreover, he was also fined £2,000.

Penge’s suspension started on December 13. He can resume playing once again by the middle of February.

Penge’s athletic performance

At the season’s last regular event, the athlete maintained his DP World Tour qualifications following a thrilling week at the Genesis Championships in South Korea.

Penge, who knew he needed a strong finish to guarantee his playing privileges, made the weekend cut with a five-foot putt and finished in 22nd place.

He retained his card with four spots left in the seasonal standings after it earned him enough points to finish 110th in the rankings.
