Back in April, the boardroom broke the news that the Phoenix Suns’ power forward and two-time NBA champion Kevin Durant had signed a lifetime deal with American athletic footwear and apparel corporation Nike. This made Durant the only third player to have done so, after Michael Jordan and Lebron James.
Edwards’ request
In a video snippet shared by ‘Nice Kicks’ on X (formerly Twitter), Minnesota Timberwolves very own star Anthony Edwards was seen sporting his debut orange-and-black Adidas signature sneakers, the ‘AE 1’.
Asked who in the league he wanted to see wear them, Edwards immediately said ‘KD’.
The 22-year-old revealed that Durant is his favorite all-time player earlier this year because, according to him, he feels as though he and Durant have a lot in common and have the same outlook on basketball.
“KD, yeah and he with Nike. I want to see him put on these one time.”
When asked when he would particularly like to see the Suns player wear it, Edwards responded, “In the game.”
After the snippet circulated online and Durant caught wind of his name being mentioned in the video, he then shared the post and wrote his answer in the caption: “Won’t EVER see me put a big toe in them Mfers.”

The hilarious and sassy comeback has since been deleted, but not before it got shared on different news outlets and fan pages.
After deleting the comment, Adidas then said that the phrase was “meant to be sent from the burner account.”
