This week, Russell Westbrook was hailed as a true teamplayer when he requested to come off the bench in order for the first unit to establish unity. This sacrifice, in addition to receiving a huge pay cut for the LA Clippers, was all the more reason for his supporters to love him.
But while the rest of the world heralded Westbook for his character, Dillon Brooks was out there, yelling ‘you got no bounce’ to his face after missing a dunk.
In the video, Westbrook can be seen hurrying towards a loose ball on the floor. And in a moment, he scooped it up and dribbled it towards the basket before attempting to score a dunk. Unfortunately, he was a bit too far from the ring when he jumped, and he ended up slamming the ball against the board.
After his failed stint, Brooks came up to him and said, “Trash! You ain’t got no bounce!”
Westbrook, however, chose to humor the situation by laughing at Brooks’ remarks.
But while Westbrook made light of the situation, the NBA fans did not.

Most fans hurried to Westbrook’s defense and stated that Brooks had no right to say that to him, considering that he was more athletic than him. Others, however, defended Brooks, saying that he was telling the truth and that, while it’s unfortunate, Westbrook has been regressing year after year.
Russell Westbrook’s stats recently
So far this season, Westbrook hasn’t made any jaw-dropping stats compared to when he was at his peak with the Oklahoma City Thunder. According to ESPN, Westbrook is averaging 13.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 44.9% FG.
But while his athleticism is slowing down, the Clippers fans still lauded Westbrook for requesting to come off bench recently.
Paul George, for one, commended his teammate for his sacrifice.
“It takes a lot for his sacrifice and what he did for us going forward to try new things out. Can’t say enough on the character of Russ and his leadership,” George said in one of his interviews.
