The Los Angeles Clippers currently find themselves in a perplexing situation, having lost their fifth game in a row on Sunday against the Grizzlies 105-101.
LA Clippers are down 3-6
Currently, the LA Clippers are somewhat experiencing the reverse of the whole Houston Rockets situation, where they surged up the rankings after racking up six wins in a row.
The team’s performance has declined dramatically these past few days after experiencing a straight loss to the LA Lakers, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, Dallas Mavericks, and most recently, the Memphis Grizzlies, bringing their record to a dismal 3-6. An outcome that was opposite of the people’s expectations after shooting guard James Harden entered their team.
When Harden finally got dealt to the Clippers, there was a sigh of relief from his former team, the Philadelphia 76ers, and a rush of adrenaline from the LA Clippers fans, as Harden was expected to complete the team’s strong line-up, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and Russell Westbrook, and help them win a championship ring.
But as it stands, it seems that the chemistry between the Clippers’ players just hasn’t kicked in yet, as they’re still in the process of forging a dynamic that will bring them another win.
Harden’s recent performance
During their last game against Memphis, Harden was nowhere near his once brilliant ball-handling and sharp shooting. On Sunday afternoon, Harden was held to just 11 points on 12 shots with three assists in a 105–101 loss to the Grizzlies, as per Sports Illustrated.
Was all the hate getting to him? Was it affecting his performance?
Last week, Harden was slammed hard by a commentator who summarized his career in a 2-minute video, ending it with a powerful, yet hard-to swallow, statement: “James, you’re not the beard. You’re not the system. You’re the problem.”
A line that’s referencing his famous statement to the press a few weeks ago, ‘I’m not a system player, I am a system’.
