In an emotional press conference, Jason Kelce declared his retirement from the National Football League (NFL) as center for the Philadelphia Eagles. In nearly a four-hour-long news conference, the 36-year-old football star broke down to tears as he reminisced about the significance of football in both his early life and professional career.
“I’ve been asked many times why I choose football, what drew me to the game, and I never have an answer that gets it right,” Jason admitted.
“The best way I can explain it is what draws you to your favorite song, your favorite book. It’s what it makes you feel – the seriousness of it, the intensity of it. Stepping on the field was the most alive and free I had ever felt,” the NFL star added.
After the Eagle’s January 32-9 playoff defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it was rumored that Kelce had announced his retirement to his teammates. However, he did not formally announce it yet, which sparked hope that he might be open to the possibility of playing one more season for the Eagles.
During his announcement, Kelce had honored several people who became significant to his football career– his brother, the Philadelphia fans, and his former teammates and coaches.
Pro Football Hall of Fame
Being a seven-time Pro Bowler and six-time All-Pro pick, Jason Kelce has a high chance of being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He had successfully played for the Eagles in is whole 13-year NFL career, including the unforgettable 2018 Super Bowl victory of the team.
Back in 2023, Jason and his younger brother, Travis, had faced off in a Super Bowl LVII match, wherein the Eagles lost to the Kansas City Chiefs. In the said press conference, Jason made a very heartful speech towards his brother.
Noah Lyles, the reigning world champion in 100 meters and 200 meters, made an on-field appearance at last Sunday’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the New York Jets, which was broadcast live from MetLife Stadium to the delight of both football and track and field fans.
2023 proved to be a fruitful year for Lyles, as he not only achieved international prominence through his three gold medal-winning performances in the World Athletics championships, but that Netflix is also set to launch a series centered around his life as a track and field athlete.
And now to top it all off, he made his debut appearance at an NFL game.
Lyles’ Milestones Jacket and NFL entrance
Lyles made his entrance into the stadium donning a casual celebrity ensemble that was topped with a black leather jacket bearing the words “3 PEAT” and “WORLD RECORD HOLDER” on the back. The jacket also featured the most notable time records of his career, printed on the left upper arm section.
These records included the 19.65 seconds and 19.50 seconds he achieved in 2019, as well as his personal best of 19.31 seconds he achieved in World Athletics Championships Oregon22. To date, Lyles is the only American sprinter, apart from Michael Johnson, to break 19.30 seconds barrier, ranking him third in the all-time top 200 sprinters list behind only Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake.
With fanfare music playing in the background and the emcee announcing his arrival, he stepped out onto the field with one of his gold medals in his hand and waved to the crowd. In an up close shot, Lyles proceeded to wear his gold medal in front of the camera before greeting the crowd again.
In his interview outside the game, one of the hosts took the opportunity to ask Lyles if Super Bowl was considered an American championship or a world championship, to which he light-heartedly answered “Well, what was the NFL stand for? National Football League, y’all national champions, still [they’re] Super Bowl champions.”
"Já venci o Super Bowl e vou te perguntar, pode ser considerado um campeonato americano ou mundial?"
Noah Lyles: "O que significa NFL? Campeonato Nacional de Futebol, vocês são campeões nacionais ,mas também campeões do Super Bowl"
Lyles appeared to be cautious about how to answer the question this time around, as he recently got embroiled in a controversy for mocking the NBA for being “world champions”, when they only competed within the USA.
Since Taylor Swift attended a Kansas City Chiefs football game on September 25, Swifties have since been prying for any information about what the real score was between her and NFL tight end Travis Kelce.
Soon after Swift was sighted at the game, videos and pictures of her cheering for Travis went viral on TikTok. In one of the videos, the pop star even did a chest bump with one of her companions and shouted “Let’s f*****g go!” when Travis scored a touchdown during the third quarter.
In the 55th episode of New Heights entitled “Eagles Stay Unbeaten, Travis’ “Biggest Catch” and New Football Eras”, Travis Kelce talked about his rumored beau, Taylor Swift, and the Chiefs game.
The official X account of NFL posted a snippet of the episode and captioned it as: ATTENTION SWIFTIES: @tkelce recapped @taylorswift13’s day at the @Chiefsgame
“And then we just slid off in the Getaway Car.” 😏 (via @newheightshow)
In the short clip, Jason asks his brother Travis about the singer.
“Well, Trav, how’s it feel that Taylor Swift has finally put you on the map?”, Jason asked.
“I just thought it was awesome how everybody in the suite head [said] nothing but great things to say about her—you know, the friends and family. She looked amazing. Everybody was talking about her in great light, and on top of that, the day went perfect for Chiefs fans. Of course, we script it all, ladies and gentlemen.”, Travis said.
Kelce also went on to comment that the game became a memorable one for him because of Taylor’s attendance and enthusiasm towards the game.
“But to see the slow motion chest bumps, to see the high fives with mom, to see how you know the kingdom was all excited that she was there, that s*** was absolutely hysterical. It was definitely a game I’ll remember, that’s for damn sure,” Travis added.
After the match, the two were seen leaving Arrowhead Stadium together and getting into a convertible car.
“And then we just slid off in the getaway car at the end,” Travis said, alluding to one of Swift’s hit songs ‘Getaway Car’ from the Reputation album.
Kelce also shared his reaction to Coach Andy Reid joking in a post-game conference that he set him up with Taylor.
“And then you got Coach Reid tellin’ everybody he’s cupid. He’s been manifesting this the whole time. He’s the one that set us up,” Travis said. “I know that he had met the Swift family before so I don’t know he could’ve been in the background the whole time.”
Finally, Travis thanked Taylor for attending the Chiefs game.
“Shoutout to Taylor for coming through and seeing me rock the stage.”
With Travis’ new revelation, the fans flocked to the comment section of New Height’s post to express their support.

Dak Prescott threw for 347 yards and three touchdowns to spark the Dallas Cowboys over NFL-best Philadelphia 40-34 on Saturday, keeping the Eagles from clinching a top playoff seeding.
The Cowboys’ defensive unit forced four turnovers and seized command late in a deadlocked game to stun the visiting Eagles (13-2).
“This was a huge game, not only beating one of the best teams in the league, but the way we did it,” Prescott said. “We can use this and continue to build.”
The victory kept Dallas Cowboys, 11-4 in the NFC East division title hunt and Minnesota, 12-3, moved closer in the fight for the NFC top seed and a first-round playoff bye.
The Baltimore Ravens clinched a playoff berth on a day when eight games were played in sub-freezing temperatures, the most in any NFL gameday in 26 years, while the New York Giants missed a chance to clinch a post-season spot on a last-play loss at Minnesota.
Prescott completed 27 of 35 passes and kept his poise after having an early interception returned for a touchdown.
“It was just about moving on,” said Prescott. “All I did is just keep my head down and keep playing. I focused in and we were able to come out with this one.”
In the last minutes, Dallas Cowboys’ defender DaRon Bland intercepted a Gardner Minshew pass and Anthony Barr recovered a fumble by Philadelphia’s Miles Sanders to set up Brett Maher field goals of 48 and 26 yards for the decisive points.
“They gave us chance after chance,” Prescott said. “With those four turnovers, they gave us short field position and we were able to capitalize on some. When they do that, we’re a tough team to beat.”
The Cowboys stopped Philadelphia’s final drive on downs at the Dallas 20 with 14 seconds remaining.
“I said if we want to be a championship team, a championship defense, this is for our lives,” Dallas Cowboys’ linebacker Micah Parsons said. “In that last six minutes, we were able to get them stops and get the win.”
Buffalo clinched a third consecutive AFC East division title and stayed ahead of Kansas City in the fight for the AFC playoff top seeding with a 35-13 victory at Chicago.
Josh Allen threw for 172 yards and two touchdowns, Devin Singletary ran for 106 yards and a touchdown and James Cook rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown for the Bills (12-3).
Kansas City (12-3) stayed on Buffalo’s heels with a 24-10 home triumph over Seattle. Patrick Mahomes threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another touchdown for the Chiefs.
At Baltimore, Tyler Huntley capped a 13-play, 70-yard drive with a 6-yard touchdown pass and ran for a two-point conversion for the decisive points in the Ravens’ 17-9 victory over Atlanta.
The Ravens (10-5) clinched a playoff berth when the New England Patriots lost to visiting Cincinnati 22-18.
Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow threw for 375 yards and three touchdowns for Cincinnati (11-4), which stayed a game ahead of Baltimore in the AFC North.
Vikings edge Giants
Philadelphia, Minnesota, Dallas, San Francisco, Kansas City, Buffalo and Cincinnati had already secured playoff spots.
Pittsburgh’s Kenny Pickett threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to George Pickens with 46 seconds remaining to give the host Steelers a 13-10 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Steelers paid tribute to former running back Franco Harris, who died earlier this week at age 72, only days before the 50th anniversary of his “Immaculate Reception” playoff touchdown catch against the Raiders.
The outcome means the Los Angeles Chargers can clinch an AFC wildcard playoff spot with a victory Monday at Indianapolis.
Minnesota’s Kirk Cousins threw for 299 yards and three touchdowns and Greg Joseph kicked a career-longest 61-yard field goal on the final play to give the Vikings a 27-24 victory over the Giants.
The Giants, 8-6-1, moved to the brink of clinching a playoff berth with Seattle’s defeat at Kansas City and Detroit’s 37-23 loss at Carolina.
New York’s hopes were also aided by Washington’s 37-20 loss at San Francisco.
Tennessee’s playoff hopes suffered a blow with a 19-14 home loss to Houston (2-12-1). The Titans (7-8) had a fifth consecutive loss to slide level with Jacksonville for the AFC South lead.
Arian Foster, a former running back for the NFL, made headlines earlier this year by stating that the NFL is corrupt and that players are given scripts during training camp. Foster made claims on the “Macrodosing” podcast by PFT Commentator that caused the football world to react with laughter and skepticism.

Several other NFL players swiftly rejected the notion, preserving the league’s integrity despite his bold claims, based on his experience with the Miami Dolphins and the Houston Texans between 2009 and 2016.
Strong support for Patrick Mahomes
“We were really dedicated to it,” Foster said. “So it was moreso like that’s what practice was about, it was about practicing the script. Like this is what goes on, this is what we have to do. WWF so we know what was gonna happen but you still have to put on a show.” an article from sportskeeda.com shared.
On Thursday, the NFL made a fun joke about Foster by releasing a video that welcomed viewers to the 104th season and included a predetermined twist. As others mocked Patrick Mahomes’ predetermined omission, others praised the NFL for their funny timing, and the comment section evolved into a comedy war zone. The league’s skill at fusing fun and sporting fervor in a single online instant was demonstrated by the variety of reactions.
In two weeks, on Thursday night, the 2023 NFL regular season begins.
As the 104th NFL season gets underway, all eyes are on the Kansas City Chiefs as they look to win another Super Bowl. The excitement starts when they play host to the Detroit Lions on opening night, then they go on a grueling road trip against AFC contenders like the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals, as well as up-and-coming squads like the Jacksonville Jaguars, Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Chargers, New York Jets, and Miami Dolphins. Get ready for an exciting season full of fierce rivalries.
Expect a thrilling campaign as the Philadelphia Eagles battle to defend their NFC title against tough NFC East opponents. Beware of teams with a chance to make the playoffs, like the Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys, and San Francisco 49ers, who are all expected to play their best. A season of outstanding football action is guaranteed as the race for NFC dominance heats up.
Vontae Davis, a former cornerback for the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, and Buffalo Bills, lost his life unexpectedly at the age of 35 in his Florida home. The NFL community is in mourning. Officials say they do not suspect foul play, even if the reason for his death is yet unknown.
When it comes to his incredible contributions to the game and the lives he impacted, both teammates and fans remember Davis, and his legacy goes well beyond the field.
In 2018, Davis—who is well-known for his remarkable ten-year NFL career—made a move that rocked the sports world and cemented his place in football history. During the Bills’ Week 2 game against the Los Angeles Chargers, during halftime, Davis made an incredible announcement: he was retiring.
He further enthralled fans after his premature retirement from the game by issuing a heartfelt and thorough statement that clarified the reasons behind his hasty departure.
“The fact that I shouldn’t be out there anymore struck me hard and quickly today on the field. To be healthy and leave without harm is more essential to me and my family than to consciously adopt a warrior mindset and leave too late.” Yahoo Sports quoted him as saying.
Davis – Tragic Death
In the book, Davis relates his compelling narrative of a difficult upbringing in Washington, D.C. He overcame a difficult upbringing caused by a violent father and an alcoholic mother. He and his six siblings, including NFL player Vernon Davis, were rescued from foster care by his grandmother, who also provided him with stability.
He was a standout football and track player who attended Illinois for his collegiate education. He went on to be selected in the first round of the NFL draft and was named to the All-Pro team twice in his playing career. Davis’s story is a perfect example of perseverance and the human spirit’s ability to overcome hardship.
Tragically, Davis passed soon. He was found sleeping by the side of the road after striking a truck with a flat tire and getting jailed for driving under the influence two months prior in Miami. Heartfelt tributes poured onto social media as word of his passing spread, with Colts owner Jim Irsay, among many others, sharing his grief along with former teammates Pat McAfee and T.Y. Hilton. Davis’s unexpected passing serves as a powerful reminder of how fleeting life is.
