According to Darren Rovell of the Action Network, this is the most expensive Jordan-signed photograph ever sold. History is being made.
Rovell said on Twitter, “Craziest price I’ve ever seen for an autographed photo, Winning bid of this just closed signed Type 1 MJ photo from his Wilson endorsement deal (1986/87) just went for $52,800 at @GoldinCo!” an article from sportskeeda.com shared.

Brahm Watcher said, “Yet again, today’s record-breaking result, with an astounding 20 bids, solidifies Michael Jordan as the undisputed GOAT. Proving his name and incomparable legacy is just as relevant as it was nearly 25 years ago.” an article from sportskeeda.com shared.
Meet Michael Jordan, a basketball legend whose “Airness” transformed the sport, propelled him to unmatched heights, and left him with a lasting reputation as an example of brilliance and tenacity.
Jordan’s legend reached new heights after releasing the documentary “The Last Dance” in 2020. Since then, Jordan memorabilia has fetched record-breaking prices, and the trend doesn’t appear to change as the years go by. The impact of the documentary on the market has contributed to Michael Jordan’s legend’s continued ascent.
Sports memorabilia from Jordan: Million-Dollar Madness! Even a UNC Jersey sells for $1.38M in a 2021 auction, with items ranging from a $2.7M NBA Card to a $1.472M game-worn shoe.
The baseball icon Babe Ruth’s jersey from when he “called his shot” in Game 3 of the 1932 World Series was sold for $24.12 million via Heritage Auctions, setting a record for the most expensive sports item ever auctioned. This was undoubtedly the most anticipated sports memorabilia sale in history.
The public was able to purchase the New York Yankees road Ruth jersey for the first time in 19 years, along with the customary 20% buyer’s premium.
The jersey outsold a rare, mint-condition Topps 1952 Mickey Mantle card which set the previous record price for any sports item sold at auction in 2022 when it went for $12.6 million. Furthermore, the Ruth jersey far surpassed a Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls jersey from Game 1 of the 1998 NBA Finals, which brought in $10.1 million at auction as well.
The Ruth jersey last sold for $940,000 at auction in 2005, but the sale was only associated with the 1932 World Series, not with Game 3 or the “called shot,” in which Ruth gestured while at bat and then hit a home run into center field off Cubs pitcher Charlie Root.
Chris Ivy, director of sports auctions at Heritage Auctions, said the jersey would establish a record for sports collectibles and that it could bring in as much as $30 million when the auction was announced in May. Ivy said: “This is essentially the Mona Lisa. It’s a very mythical moment that crosses over not only in baseball history, but American history, pop culture history… We’re still talking about it 100 years later, which is one of the reasons why I think it’s the most significant piece of sports memorabilia in the world. When it hits that new record, high tide raises all boats. I think more people are going to be interested in this hobby.”
Though the buyer’s identity remains undisclosed, Ivy told ESPN that a dozen individuals “on our mailing list would pay between 15 and 20 million dollars” for the Ruth jersey.
When Djokovic’s Roland-Garros racquet was announced to be for sale earlier this year, analysts estimated that it could bring in as much as $100,000.
It turned out, however, that it went beyond that. Despite the fact that Djokovic is among the greatest tennis players alive, tennis racquets are not known for being sold for astronomically high prices, unlike NBA jerseys. In 2017, Billie Jean King’s racquet, which brought in $125,000, sold for the highest price ever.
With three grand slam wins this year, raising his total to 24, and seven ATP finals victories, Djokovic’s rise over the years has contributed significantly to the racquet’s increased worth.
In one of the most epic battles in tennis history, Djokovic faced off against 3-time grand slam champion and 2-time Olympic gold medalist Andy Murray in the finals.
Djokovic won the match and subsequently used the 27-inch racquet to draw a heart on the clay court and throw it into the crowd, where one lucky fan, Abby Doherty, snagged it.
When Djokovic threw his racket into the crowd, Doherty remembers the scene as though it were happening in slow motion. She claimed it struck her hand, bounced off the ground, and she scrambled to catch it and hold on tightly.
As to why she decided to put it up for sale, she explains that although it was a cool piece of sports memorabilia, it had just been sitting in her closet for six years.
Djokovic’s recent tournaments
Djokovic recently won his 7th ATP finals title back in November. The Serbian player defeated 22-year-old Jannik Sinner in the finals, 6-3, 6-3, to become the player with the most ATP finals wins.
Afterwards, Djokovic competed in the Davis Cup alongside the rest of Team Serbia. They defeated Great Britain but fell short against Team Italy in the following round.
In the second round, Jannik Sinner triumphed over Djokovic, 6-2 2-6 7-5.
Still, Djokovic continues to lead the Pepperstone ATP rankings. He’s been at the top for 402 weeks now.
