Arsenal has been on a spending spree for this Premier League, as they have invested a total of £270 million. This is all thanks to Mikel Arteta, whose goal was to uplift Arsenal from the underachievers category to one of the top contending teams this year.
Arteta has introduced new players to Arsenal, namely, Matt Turner, Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira and Marquinhos. He has replaced numerous players and is still keen to add new players.
Rumours are that Arsenal may add more players until the final deadline for transfers. Pedro Neto from Wolves has been listed as a potential player for Arsenal. Ruben Neves, Neto’s teammate, said that he is a world class player.
According to a sports site, Neves stated “Pedro’s been a fantastic player for us since he came,” Neves said back in February 2021. “This season, I think for me, he’s been the best player that we have in the squad.
Moreover, even with the addition of new players, their existing player Rob Holding may leave Arsenal for greener pastures. It is alleged that Aston Villa is considering him and Calum Chambers both to their team.
The defence Holding provides is bringing Arsenal a long way, and with him leaving it will be a disruptive time for the team. Finding a suitable replacement as effective and efficient as him will be challenging.
Aston Villa needs a solid defence as their current player Diego Carlos is suffering from an ankle problem, and his teammate Steven Gerrard needs back up. Holding is the best option for them.
Holding now has a contract for another two years. Currently Arsenal is having difficulties in selling one of their players, namely Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Some time back, wolves offered good money for that said player, but he decided to stay.
Some speculate that Arsenal may run into the same problem with Holding as they did with Ainsley. This of course will all depend on how much Aston Villa is willing to pay off Holding for.
Another concern could also be that his replacement might not be as effective as him and the time and efforts needed to find one may not be worth it. It is up to the two teams to discuss with each other for the best outcome.
