Ronaldo

A shocking interview done by the world’s favourite footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo has gotten the internet in a pickle. His recent interview with Piers Morgan, where he claimed that he was accused of being the “black sheep” of United shows that he has had enough of them.

Ronaldo claims that the club lacks “basic” respect for him even after winning five Ballon d’Ors, five Champion Leagues and 32 trophies. As stated many times on Sportsry, he is currently the world’s most followed person on Instagram. The likes of Gucci, Black Pink and Kim Kardashian combined are still not enough to reach the number of his followers.

The Portuguese superstar had a lot to say, especially about his former manager, Ralf Ragnick. “If you’re not even a coach, how are you going to be the boss of Manchester United? I’d never even heard of him.”

He then added his views about Erik ten Hag and on the drama that happened a few weeks ago when he left the stadium right before the game ended. “I don’t have respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me. “If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you.”

The Sun conducted a poll, asking their readers on their thoughts about Ronaldo. 48% says that he deserves better. He then stated that after Sir Alex Furgeson left, the club has been left to disarray. He then added that football is his passion and claims that he’s finding himself in a club where they’re not bothering to win the top silverware.

Instead of focusing on winning, Manchester United has instead snubbed him, benched him, dropped him and even scolded him. This must be tough news for Ten Hag to read in his morning paper. The next Manchester United training is definitely going to be extremely awkward.

Fans reaction towards Ronaldo’s exposé

Football journalist Fabrizio Romano posted about the whole incident on Twitter, which garnered over 100k likes. He also added the important key words which were, “I don’t respect Ten Hag.”

Swarms of angry fans came in the comments section of the post as one of them claimed that Ronaldo is only in it for himself. Furthermore, that same fan claimed that Ronaldo used Manchester United as a stepping stone to move to his alleged actual dream club which is Real Madrid.

United fans claimed that he has destroyed his legacy in the team. They also stated that they are together with Erik ten Hag, and encouraged other United fans to do the same. There were a minority that criticised the Dutchman for not really helping his team as they barely improved on all grounds this season.

Statements of Ronaldo being the Greatest Of All Time (G.O.A.T) are talked about. However, Messi fans came in between stating that Messi would never throw his teammates and manager under the bus.

There were rumours that his former club, Real Madrid’s President labelled him as an “imbecile” in a leaked recording. There were United fans that supported Ronaldo, but they are in the minority.

Other Ronaldo supporters stated that Ten Hag should be sacked and that Ronaldo should be a player-manager until the end of the season. However, that seems to be quite a stretch as Ronaldo will be under immense stress when he has to both play and manage for the team.

When it is stated that Ronaldo supporters are a minority, it meant that tweets that defended him got less than 8,00 likes. However, tweets that defended Ten Hag and Manchester United would get about 4,000 likes.

It is a clear indication, regardless of who is right and wrong, that Manchester United fans in general support Erik Ten Hag. They claimed that he knows the best for the team and would judge the players solely on merit not on popularity. However, a player’s merit can also be a subject for debate.
