Gabriel Magalhães

Gabriel Magalhães, the 24-year-old Brazilian player has recently signed a long term deal with Arsenal. He has an extensive career in football, participating in tournaments even in his youth days. He received his first professional contract at the tender age of 16-years-old

The Premier League managers are anticipating a series of new contracts signing important players. Magalhães is one of the first ones being signed by Arsenal for a longer contract until 2027.

Gabriel Magalhães, his representatives, and senior club employees met on Friday at Arsenal’s training facility to finalise the terms. The deal is considered as compensation for the advancement the player has made since joining from Lille in September 2020; the contract was valid until 2025.

Social media reactions on Gabriel Magalhães joining Arsenal

Users posted videos of insults that were thrown towards Gabriel Magalhães and they weren’t too nice. Many claimed that he was a liability, has a receding hairline and many more. However, for a team like Arsenal to recognize such talent and renewing the contract for a longer term one, proves that he is actually an asset instead of a liability.

Under Mikel Arteta, the Gunners are currently in first place in the Premier League. Furthermore, it is duly noted that Arsenal players will mostly be in the upcoming World Cup. It is rumoured that 18 of them might join the FIFA game.

Some netizens claimed that Arsenal is doing this only for Magalhães’ “resale” value to increase before letting him go. This might be true as all players in their respective clubs are deemed as an asset with monetary value.

However, not all fans are happy with the signing of Gabriel Magalhães, as some are claiming that he is the new “Mustafi.” Mustafi was a German player for Arsenal that missed a score in 2020 due to injuries which then led him to have his contract terminated by the Gunners.

Others are claiming that Gabriel Magalhães is the weakest link in the starting eleven. Many are hoping that Mikel Arteta sees potential in him that many so-called “experts” can’t see. Furthermore, many are talking about how close him and Arteta are.

Furthermore, according to Fabrizio Romano, there were other clubs wanting Magalhães, clubs like Juventus. However, he remained to stay with Arteta’s Arsenal as the club always wanted to keep him.

The negative comments about Gabriel Magalhães are still quite prevalent here, as fans claimed that he is error-prone. Others are saying that they’ll reserve their comments until November which is when the World Cup would start.

The reason why that is stated is because some are claiming that he can’t even make it on the bench for Brazil’s team.
