Is it too early for the young Harvey Elliott to play in the Premier League for Liverpool?
This is what a pundit feels and he even named another player who can fill in Elliott’s role for the Anfield club.
The pundit, Frank McAvennie believes that despite Elliott’s wonderful qualities, he might be being overused and that is posing a problem for Liverpool.
McAvennie, who is a former West Ham and Celtic striker, has claimed that Liverpool miss Thiago Alcantara more.
“They’re bringing players in all the time. Elliott, what a player, but he’s not ready for the Premier League yet. He’s ready for a game here and there but he’s playing all the time and it’s showing.
“He’s a wonderful talent but it shows how much they miss Thiago Alcântara, great player, absolutely wonderful. He’s injury prone but when he plays he pulls the strings, my god.
“I’d love to see him and Jude Bellingham in the same team. That would be worth the admission fee, that’s for sure.”
He believes Liverpool are happy with what they got though the players are not always getting a game.
He insists that Elliott is “not ready” to play as regularly as he does for Liverpool. He also says there should be a new player, a superstar, that should arrive in his position.
In the first six games of the season, Harvey Elliott has been one of Liverpool’s standout performers, but the Reds must reduce their reliance on the 19-year-old midfielder.
However, Thiago Alcântara’s return to training two weeks ago has given Jürgen Klopp insight into whether his team’s midfield will see rejuvenation after an early injury plague.
For many, including supporters, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp and his assistant, Pep Lijnders, have already identified the one feature that distinguishes 19-year-old Reds midfielder Harvey Elliott.
“On Friday I said to Jürgen that we were watching something really special growing,” Lijnders recalls in his book, Intensity.
As for Klopp, he says Elliott makes so many good decisions for a young player. Klopp told Lijnders at the AXA Training Centre, “It’s crazy. He never, ever makes foolish runs or decisions. He’s already a real, real football player.”
