World Cup

The long awaited 2022 FIFA World Cup is finally coming into place, despite the whole drama and ordeal that most of the western media has had against Qatar. FIFA made it clear that Qatar is still hosting the tournament and will not stop it.

Football fans everywhere are excited for it due to the difficult two years we had since the Covid-19 pandemic hit the world. However, the Champions League, Europa League and the Premier League would need to be split in half, which are the pre World Cup matches and the post World Cup matches.

Thanks to the World Cup happening, these other league matches will be postponed and delayed.

Netizens criticisms towards the World Cup

There were some criticisms after the announcement that it is World Cup month. This is due to the fact that FIFA has not been stable in deciding which country is allowed to stay and which country isn’t.

There were some baseless and ridiculous claims from Ukraine, which is currently in the middle of a war, bravely requesting for them to join the World Cup. Furthermore, they made a request that Iran should be kicked out in their place.

More comments on the photo posted as Ghana and Italy (the Italians failed to make it to Qatar) are not in the photo. Netizens from Ghana claimed that it was tough for the players to work hard in order to qualify for the tournament. Plus that it is unfair for them to not be featured among the other almost 30+ players representing their own countries.

Others are excited to see whether Cristiano Ronaldo will win this year’s World Cup and there were some that stated that Lionel Messi is the Greatest Of All Time (G.O.A.T).

Furthermore, according to SportBible’s Twitter account, FIFA has officially released the promotional video for this year’s tournament. There were images protesting on the alleged “slave labour” that “built” the stadiums and accommodation places for Qatar.

However, rebuttal from others asked how many have died building the entire western world. There were others that compared the previous video done for South Africa and claimed that it was better compared to the newer one.

There was a bigger promotional campaign when the World Cup was held in South Africa. Even the world renowned singer Shakira made a touching popular song about it, and it was impactful.

Naysayers are claiming that this time FIFA is more corrupt than ever, as they are every year. However, maybe they have forgotten that the 1934 World Cup was hosted by Italy under Musolini’s strict totalitarian regime.
