The saddening news of Queen Elizabeth II passing away has stunned the world and currently all Premier League games are postponed from Saturday to Monday. Looking for a venue to host the games is no easy task as the season is already being cut short thanks to the upcoming World Cup which starts on the 20th November.

According to the British press, here are the list of games that has been postponed due to the Queen’s passing:

The delays in all leagues and matches are not consistent as the FA, Premier League and EFL have decided to postpone their games this weekend. However, England and South Africa’s Test match will resume as per usual.

Now, the fear of next weekend’s games to be postponed are on the rise as the policing and logistical issues which surround the Queen’s burial will affect the games. There will possibly be thousands of mourners attending the burial location and they will definitely put a strain on the traffic conditions.

The funeral will be done in London on September 19 will be an intense day as the police would need to cover the city in order to contain the crowds. The process will begin next weekend and it most definitely affects the Premier League games that will be held then.

EFL teams such as QPR, Leyton, Sutton United, Millwall, Orient and teams like Tottenham, Brentford and Chelsea all will be playing at their respective home stadiums. All are scattered around London.

This season is regarded to be one of the most intense seasons in the Premier League as losing one round will be an issue for a team. Some clubs may need to play more than 60 games on top of having a World Cup to worry about. The Champions League and the European League will be another headache for all the teams.

This season started a week earlier than the last few seasons, however, it is speculated that it will end one or two weeks later than usual for the reasons stated above. Furthermore, if winter gets bad, there might be an additional postponement for the games.
