The Premier League will resume this weekend with only two stadium busting matches postponed due to police resources being stretched in the aftermath of the Queen’s death.
Manchester United’s match against Leeds and Chelsea’s match against Liverpool have been postponed.
Besides these two matches, the Brighton match against Crystal Palace on Sept 17 remains off despite the cancellation of a proposed train strike.
This is a better scenario for football fans as all Premier League matches were postponed on the weekend of September 10 and 11, as English football entered a period of reflection following Queen Elizabeth II’s death on Thursday.
This week, the Football Association confirmed that football would resume this weekend despite the fact that police resources are limited, with most of the force engaged for the Queen’s funeral on Sept 19.

Not that some reports say that Chelsea’s home game against Liverpool and Manchester United’s game against Leeds have both been postponed, despite the FA giving the green light for football to resume across the country.
In a statement, the Prem said: “Following extensive consultation with clubs, police, local Safety Advisory Groups and other relevant authorities, there was no other option but to postpone the three fixtures.”
Earlier, the FA confirmed the return of all levels of play, including Tuesday’s Champions League game between Liverpool and Ajax, six Championship matches, and the entire schedule in Leagues One and Two.
