Following the Philadelphia Eagles’ convincing entry into the postseason as their NFL counterparts, Lenny Dykstra poked fun at the Philadelphia Phillies by contrasting both teams’ regular season performances.
Dykstra compiled the two separate Philadelphia teams from various leagues on Twitter, and he expressed his opinion.
He expressed his joy for the NFL team, who had a 12-1 record and earned a spot in their own playoffs, but he then made a subtle jab at the Phillies, who had a different record and thus had not performed as well.
In its home season, the Philadelphia team went 87-75 and finished third in the National League Division.
The New York Mets and the division champion Atlanta Braves, who are now in first and second place, are separated by them by 14 games. The Fightin’ Phils had a 19-8 record in June, their best regular-season month, making it their best overall
To everyone’s astonishment, however, the Philadelphia Phillies managed to have a successful playoff run, going all the way to the World Series for the first time since 2000. In order to advance to their first NLCS in 12 years, they first defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in the Wild Card Series.
Then, they defeated the defending champion Atlanta Braves 3-1. Prior to losing in six games to the Houston Astros in the Fall Classic, they won five games against the San Diego Padres.
