Being affectionate after a game demonstrates excellent sportsmanship since it fosters strong connections between players, respect, and the idea that sports are more than just a competition.
And following last Friday’s highly anticipated game between the Dallas Mavericks and Denver Nuggets, this is precisely what the entire world saw. In a sea of players, reporters, and spectators were two of Europe’s greatest NBA players, Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic and Mavs’ Luka Doncic, sharing a hug.

In addition, Jokic was also sighted giving Doncic a kiss on the cheek. And as Jokic grew up with the Serbian culture of greeting his close friends and family with a kiss, the incident was nothing out of the ordinary for him.
Fans’ reactions
Under ESPN’s post on X, the fans shared their delight at seeing the two players reunite on the court and express their affection for one another.
One X user commented, “Two legends of the game, respect is mutual.” While another one noted the sportsmanship between the two, writing, “It’s great to see such sportsmanship and mutual respect between two star players!”
Finally, one fan expressed how much he loved their brotherhood, stating, “My two favorite players man, my European dawgs 😤 Love the brotherhood between the 2. Blessed to watch Nikola Jokic & Luka Doncic dominate on the court, they both in their own league 🐐🐐 Both already Hall of Famers, Jokic the most skilled big man ever and Doncic is unstoppable.”
