Edwards

Not too long after the regular season began, the Minnesota Timberwolves proved to be one of the best teams in the league as they rose to the top of the Western Conference standings with a record of 10-3.

And with their meteoric rise, the team’s lineup has drawn even more attention from the public, particularly Anthony Edwards, the team’s leading scorer, who has so far amassed remarkable stats of 25.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 46.4 FG%.

On Edwards’ rise

Although Edwards did not start playing in the NBA until 2020, he rose to prominence in just four seasons and established himself as one of the best players in the league due to his outstanding ball-handling skills and efficient shooting.

His nickname, Ant-Man, came from his father, and it followed him everywhere he went, even as he entered the league. Initially, the nickname carried no deep meaning, but as he continued to stage brilliant performances on the court, it eventually symbolized his “determination, resilience, and playful demeanor,” as per RevUp Sports.

But who gave Edwards such a strong will to excel? Edward’s journey and the person who is accountable for his current genius were detailed in NBA’s most recent post on X.

Who’s responsible?

According to the post, Coach Steve Kerr of the Golden State Warriors’ words left a lasting impact on him.

Edwards revealed that, prior to meeting Kerr, he believed he was working hard.

However, Edwards said that when he was training and doing drills for the Warriors, there were times when the coach would stop him and say, ‘that’s all you got?’

“I think after that, man, I became a madman in the gym,” said Edwards.

Edwards works with Kerr for Team USA

During the off-season, coach Kerr reunited with Edwards for the FIBA Men’s World Cup.

Edwards led the team in scoring, started all eight games, and assisted the United States in placing fourth overall in the competition. He averaged 18.9 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.1 spg and 25.9 mpg, as per usab.com.
