Celebrities attending the Democratic National Convention

The Democratic National Convention (DNC) started on Aug 19 in Chicago and several celebrities are also attending the event.

Steve Kerr

Among them was Steve Kerr who got on stage on Monday night. Kerr is the head coach of the Golden State Warriors basketball team and the US Olympic team. He did the popular sleep hand gesture by star player Steph Curry and said it was time to tell Donald Trump “night night”. 

“I believe that leaders must display dignity. I believe that leaders must tell the truth. I believe that leaders should be able to laugh at themselves. I believe leaders must care for and love the people they are leading. I believe leaders must possess knowledge but with full awareness that none of us has all the answers,” said Kerr.

Tony Goldwyn and Mickey Guyton

Also present was “Scandal” actor Tony Goldwyn, and country music artist Mickey Guyton. Guyton performed her song ‘All American’ on the first night of the DNC.

Jason Isbell 

Also performing on the first night was multi Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter, Jason Isbell. He sang “Something More than Free.” Isbell describes himself as a progressive and is well known for his stand against Republicans.

Ana Navarro 

Co-host of the popular ABC talk show “The View”, Ana Navarro spoke at the convention on Tuesday.(Aug 20). Navarro is a political strategist and is known for her vocal views and support of the Democratic Party in the last few years.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Although it is not certain whether Senfield’s Julia Louis-Dreyfus will be at the main event on Wednesday, she will host a separate event in Chicago with the objective of highlighting the leadership of female governors and how important it is.

The Democratic Governors Association (DGA) Women Governors Fund event will feature eight Democratic women governors including Arizona’s Katie Hobbs, Massachusetts’ Maura Healey, New York’s Kathy Hochul and Michigan’s Gretchen Whitmer.

“I’m honoured to host this conversation with America’s Democratic women governors while our party comes together to celebrate in Chicago,” Julia Louis-Dreyfus said in a statement on Tuesday.

Mindy Kaling 

Star of The Office and The Mindy Project, Mindy Kaling will get on stage on Wednesday. She has also been making appearances with Kamala Harris, in 2020 she co-chaired a virtual Hollywood campaign event for President Biden with Reese Witherspoon.

Kerry Washington 

“Scandal” actress Kerry Washington is slated to appear on the DNC stage on Thursday. She also spoke at the last DNC in 2020. Washington founded the political activism organisation Change which focuses on celebrities promoting civil activism.
