Yuvraj-Singh-Criticize DEXA

The Yo-Yo test and the DEXA scan test have both been added, thus the players’ fitness standard will undoubtedly be difficult to meet.

Following its assessment meeting of Team India on Sunday in Mumbai, the BCCI made a number of significant suggestions. The forthcoming World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in India this year, has been taken into consideration as all the adjustments have been made. It’s important to remember that India last won a World Cup in 2011.

Since then, they have only ever faced off in one World Cup T20I and ODI final, which took place way back in 2014. The team’s devastating 10-wicket loss to England in the T20 World Cup semifinal the previous year only exacerbates the wounds.

At the review meeting on Sunday, attended by people including BCCI President Mr. Roger Binny, Secretary Jay Shah, Captain Rohit Sharma, and Head Coach Rahul Dravid, the Board decided to bring back the Yo-Yo exam.

The Yo-Yo Test, which was first introduced prior to the team’s World Cup campaign in 2019, should be noted as something Team India is well aware of. But in the most recent release, the BCCI has announced a new test DEXA scan for the players.

In a press release, BCCI stated that “The Yo-Yo Test and Dexa will now be integrated into the tailored roadmaps of the central pool of players” as part of the selection criteria.

DEXA: What is it?

DEXA scans can help determine a person’s bone density, water content, lean muscle mass, and body fat percentage. Given that the test was implemented together with the Yo-Yo test, the players’ fitness standard will undoubtedly be challenging to meet. The BCCI will reportedly keep a careful eye on the players who are prone to injury as well as their physical condition.

In addition to the plan for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, the BCCI noted in a release that the topics of player availability, workload management, and fitness standards were also extensively reviewed during the meeting.
