Chris Jordan and Alex Hales each contributed to England’s victory in the T20 World Cup in Australia. They are those who were discharged by their IPL team in advance of the December auction.
Two days after helping England win the T20 world championship in Melbourne, Alex Hales and Chris Jordan have been cut loose from their respective IPL teams. The retained list for 2023 has been verified by the franchises, and an auction is scheduled for December.
Among those fired by the Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, respectively, are Hales and Jordan.
Let go quickly. While Jason Roy and Benny Howell will be searching for new teams after being released by the Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings, respectively, Tymal Mills, who did not participate in the World Cup, has been dropped by the Mumbai Indians.
Hales was an important contributor to England winning the World Cup. He scored 212 runs in six innings, including the game-winning 86 not out in 47 balls versus India in the semifinal.
In the semi-final and championship match, Jordan got five wickets in his two starts in place of the injured Mark Wood, and the Kolkata Knight Riders have released Sam Billings, who has played only sporadically for England this year across all forms.
World Cup champions Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, and Wood are among the players who have had their contracts renewed by their respective IPL clubs.
After scoring the most runs (863) in 2022, England’s white-ball skipper Buttler has decided to stay with the Rajasthan Royals.
Moeen will continue to play for the Chennai Super Kings, while Wood has left the Lucknow Super Giants and Livingstone has been maintained by the Punjab Kings.
Lockie Ferguson has joined Roy on the Gujrat Titans’ firing list, while Jason Holder has been released by the Lucknow Super Giants. While Dwayne Bravo has been dismissed by Chennai Super Kings, Pat Cummings and Aaron Finch have both been dismissed by Kolkata Knight Riders.
Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand, has been released by the Mumbai Indians, and Kieron Pollard has been dumped by Sunrises Hyderabad.
