Fakhar Zaman, an accomplished batter for Pakistan, won’t be traveling with the team to the T20 World Cup because of a knee injury, according to former captain and cricket analyst Rashid Latif.
In the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022, where Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan in the final in Dubai to capture their sixth Asia Cup championship, Fakhar had trouble scoring runs. In the competition, he received points of 10, 53, 15, 5, 13, and 0. He only managed to score 96 runs overall in six games with a strike rate of 103.23.
In the championship match in Dubai against Sri Lanka, the left-handed hitter was struck out for a golden duck. He received criticism for his poor fielding performance throughout the T20 competition as well.
Fakhar may be sidelined for 4-6 weeks due to a knee injury, according to former Pakistan National Cricket Team captain Latif during a conversation on the YouTube channel “Caught Behind.” He declared:
“Fakhar Zaman will not be a member of the group (for the T20 World Cup). He could be out for four to six weeks due to a knee injury. I suppose he’ll need to spend a month in rehab. According to what I understand, Shaheen Afridi too sustained a similar injury. Let’s hope he gets better soon.”
“Address Fakhar Zaman’s batting number.” Mudassar Nazar.
The moment, in the opinion of former Pakistani cricketer Mudassar Nazar, has arrived for the team management to test Zaman once more as the opener. While Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam are excellent openers, in his opinion, they barely dislodge the opposition from the game.
The 66-year-old, who was speaking to Cricket Pakistan, commented on the team’s batting difficulties:
“I am aware of how successful Babar and Rizwan have been, but they rarely win games for the opposition since they bat at the same speed. However, if we are reluctant to alter their union, we might need to change our minds about Fakhar.
In 71 T20Is for Pakistan, Zaman has scored 1349 runs at an average of 21.75 and a strike rate of 129.09 while playing for his country.
