When Zimbabwe announced their roster for the three-match T20I series against Ireland later in the month, a few important players were absent.
The Zimbabwean T20I team for the series that starts in mid-January does not include Sikandar Raza, Blessing Muzarabani, Regis Chakabva, or Milton Shumba.
The team has four changes from the group that competed in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia last year, with the most notable one being the addition of Gary Ballance, a former England player who recently signed a two-year contract with Zimbabwe cricket to play both domestic and international cricket.
Ballance playing for Zimbabwe
Ballance was fired by Yorkshire after a protracted employment that started in 2007 and went back to play for his own nation. At the time, Ballance remarked, " I’m excited to join Zimbabwe Cricket and can’t wait to get to work with some excellent coaches and good players. I now have a newfound love and zest for the game thanks to the chance to play for Zimbabwe.
Despite the good news of Ballance’s comeback, Zimbabwe will miss its talented all-rounder Raza who is now allowed to play franchise cricket.
Despite the fact that Muzarabani is currently suffering from a quad injury, Tendai Chatara, and Richard Ngarava are on hand to support the pace attack.
On January 12, 14, and 15, matches in the T20I series will be held in Harare. An ODI series will be played at the same location on January 18, 21, and 23 after this. The second One Day International was delayed from January 20 to January 21.
Players: Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wellington Masakadza, Tony Munyonga, Richard Ngarava, Victor Nyauchi, Sean Williams, Craig Ervine (captain), Gary Ballance, Ryan Burl, Tendai Chatara, Bradley Evans, Luke Jongwe, Innocent Kaia, Clive Madande, Wessley Madhevere.
