Nielsen

Laviai Nielsen committedly finished fourth at the Glasgow World Athletics Indoor Championships in the 400-meter women’s division. However, the British athlete missed several podium opportunities, especially when Femke Bol broke the indoor world record. Despite the setbacks in her recent events, Nielsen remains positive in her future performances.

Nielsen vowed to herself the experience that she gained competing against the record-breaker Femke Bol would be an inspiration for her to do so much better to reach her desired ambitions. Although Nielsen finished with a new personal best of 50.80 that made her to fourth place, Bol had triumphantly smashed the world record with a time of 49.17.

Nielsen is optimistic

Two Dutch players led the podium–Bol winning gold and Lieke Klaver for silver– and American Alexis Homes bagged bronze. Despite being one step behind her first individual world medal, Nielsen remained optimistic about the event’s outcomes.

Nielsen remarked: “I am so proud of how I ran that race. I knew from lane two, everyone would be coming in and I just wanted to hold that inside line. There was a battle at the break but I did so well to just try and stay.”

“I am very hungry now. I think that’s the third time I have finished in fourth place but that is the least painful as I honestly don’t think I could have run faster than that, I left everything out there,” she declared.
