Greg Norman, who has served as the CEO of the Saudi-sponsored league from its founding in 2021, has been replaced by Scott O’Neil. According to a statement released by LIV Gold, O’Neil will spearhead the team golf circuit’s corporate operations, strategic vision, and international expansion.

LIV Golf’s board chairman, Yasir Al-Rumayyan, stated: “Scott has the passion, the tenacity, and the vision to continue leveraging LIV Golf’s position as a pre-eminent, global sports and entertainment company and to lead our amazing teams and players for years to come.”

O’Neil has been in charge of managing international sports and entertainment companies for over 25 years. Prior to that, he was CEO of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment and then CEO of Merlin Entertainments as well.

O’Neil said: “What LIV Golf has achieved in just three years is remarkable… The game has been infused with a long overdue bolt of energy and innovation with the team model.”

Al-Rumayyan expressed his gratitude to Norman, the two-time major champion from Australia who was the league’s first commissioner and CEO.

He said: “When we launched LIV Golf, there was no one that made more sense to lead the organization other than Greg Norman… I thank him for everything he has done to establish, launch and grow our league. He has been instrumental to LIV’s success.”

In a social media post, LIV Golf showed appreciation and gratitude to Norman by saying: “Thank you, @shark_gregnorman!”. The photo also incorporated a message from Norman stating: “Couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve accomplished or more pleased with where the league stands today. I’m excited to pass the baton of day-to-day management and continue to help do what I can to grow LIV Golf. Long LIV Golf!”
