In 2026, MotoGP will make its first appearance in Brazil after more than two decades.
MotoGP will be held at Goiania’s Ayrton Senna track, named after the late Brazilian Formula 1 world champion, till at least 2030 under a five-year agreement. Prior to the championship’s 1992 relocation to Sao Paulo, MotoGP was held in Goiania, located in central Brazil, from 1987 to 1989. Rio de Janeiro most recently hosted the event from 1995 to 2004.
The CEO of MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports, Carmelo Ezpeleta, stated: “This new agreement offers a fantastic opportunity to expand in a key market for the sport and our manufacturers… Brazil is a global player and somewhere we have always believed deserves a space on our calendar.”
Furthermore, MotoGP said that it has selected South America as a key market in an attempt to reach a larger audience. For 2025, Argentina is one of the 22 destinations for the MotoGP calendar.
