This year, Sarah Storey won gold in the women’s C4-C5 individual time trial at the Paracycling Road World Championships in Switzerland, defeating major opponent Heidi Gaugain.

The 46-year-old athlete won her 38th Para global title after finishing the 29.9km course in 45 minutes and 25 seconds, one minute and 36 seconds ahead of Gaugain of France. Moreover, Storey successfully defended her title after winning this competition in Glasgow the previous year.

On her win, the athlete sad: “To hit out the way I did, I was really chuffed. The course was so much fun… It was great and I was really glad I had the legs to put in the performance as well.”

In a similar story, the winners of the women’s B individual time trial were Katie-George Dunlevy of Ireland and pilot Linda Kelly, with a final time of 43:14.

Furthermore, Sophie Unwin, who finished second with pilot Jenny Holl, and Lora Fachie, who finished third with pilot Corrine Hall, were both British competitors.

More so, in the Road World Championships, which are held concurrently with the Para-cycling competition, Grace Brown of Australia easily won the women’s elite individual time trial.
