Rankireddy
Indian men’s badminton duo of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy broke the record of London 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Saina Nehwal for most weeks as world No. 1 for an Indian Badminton Player. Nehwal held the previous record for being world no. 1 for nine consecutive weeks 3 days ago.

This most recent accomplishment surpasses Nehwal’s previous record of being number one for nine weeks in a row, a feat she accomplished in 2015 from August 18 to October 21.

Their outstanding results at major tournaments this year, including the China Open, Malaysia Open, and India Open, catapulted them to the top. Their winning run at the French Open was a real high point, confirming their position as the world’s top men’s doubles team.

Shetty and Rankireddy: Top of BWF Ranking

With an astounding 1,02,303 points on the BWF leaderboard, Rankireddy and Shetty have cemented their reputation as formidable players in men’s doubles badminton. This puts them more than 5,000 points ahead of their nearest rivals, the South Korean duo of Kang Min Hyuk and Seo Seung Jae.

Their journey, which they lovingly called “Sat-Chi,” culminated in October when they made history by becoming the first Indian doubles team to take the number one slot in the BWF Rankings.

This accomplishment was made possible by their outstanding performance at the Asian Games in Hangzhou. Although their first three-week reign at the top was short-lived, their steadfast dedication to perfection has now solidified them as the leading pair in the field of men’s doubles badminton.
