Christmas came early for one Jamaican sprinting phenom, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. This week, the 36-year-old announced that she has become the newest brand ambassador for luxury watch company Richard Mille, following in the footsteps of other track and field athletes such as Mutaaz Barshim, Nafissatou Thiam, Akani Simbine, and Wayde van Niekerk.
Richard Mille is not one of the regular timepieces that can be bought at almost every department store. Its opulent, exclusive, and high-end designs render it comparatively (and understandably) more costly than the majority of brands in the market. And as such, it has evolved into a sort of status symbol for the well-known and wealthy.
Fraser-Pryce’s fits brand image
But outside of its reputation, Richard Mille is also a brand known for crafting durable and extremely accurate watches, which makes it a suitable accessory for other athletes out there.
Over the years, the Swiss watch company has made it its mission to enlist top-tier sports personalities, who, of course, fit their brand image, as ambassadors.
And this year, just before the year 2023 runs out, Fraser-Pryce, who’s had a remarkable career for more than a decade, has been added to the list.
According to Amanda Mille, brand and partnerships director of Richard Mille, the Jamaican sprinter is not only a ‘world champion’, but also a strong woman who combines this with being a mother and a philanthropist. And because her endearing qualities and all-around commitment reflected the brand’s values, they decided that it would be best to add her to their ambassadors.
Fraser-Pryce on her newest partnership
Delighted to become a part of Mille’s family, Fraser-Pryce said that she had always wanted to build a partnership with a company that understood time and believed that age shouldn’t be a barrier to success because she had always been told what she could and couldn’t achieve. She continued by saying that both the brand and she have the same goals and strive to be “timeless.”

On Richard Mille’s latest Instagram post, the company posted photos of Fraser-Pryce sporting an all-white long-sleeve crop top and tennis skirt and, of course, wearing the “RM 07-04 Automatic Sport”, along with a caption that says,
“On your mark, get set, GO! Olympic Gold Medalist and World Champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has joined the Richard Mille family.”
In an interview, Fraser-Prycer described the RM 07-04 Automatic Sport as a timeless piece that is perfectly synchronized with each individual who wears it.
