Snoop Dogg, a renowned rapper, and passionate hockey fan, has huge hopes for the Ottawa Senators if he and Los Angeles-based businessman Neko Sparks successfully buy the NHL team. Snoop intends to create a youth hockey program and join the ownership group to encourage young children to play the sport.
Snoop has supported hockey for 25 years and has demonstrated his passion for the game in several ways. He has appeared in music videos wearing hockey jerseys, provided analysis during NHL broadcasts, and performed at hockey events, including the 2017 All-Star Game.
Owning a team, though, would be a completely different level of participation, and Snoop is enthusiastic about the chance to alter the perception of hockey.
A Snoop Youth Hockey League will be established outside of Canada to promote the sport in urban groups and give them opportunities to play it. He wants to introduce the sport of hockey to young children who might not otherwise have access to it because he thinks there is a gap in American hockey culture.
Snoop has expertise in developing fruitful kid sports initiatives. The No. 2 draught choice in 2023, CJ Stroud, played in a youth football league he runs, sending over 20,000 kids to Division 1 NCAA programs. In Snoop’s opinion, sports can help young people develop more organizational skills, a stronger sense of family, and the ability to achieve great things.
The Ottawa Senators are appealing to more than just Snoop. Ryan Reynolds and the Remington Group made a recent $1 billion offer to buy the franchise. In two weeks, the proposals for the following round will be determined. It’s more than just an economic opportunity for Snoop to own a hockey team. He has the opportunity to support the game he adores.
