According to the Australian Open chief Craig Tiley, the Australian former Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios is expected at the Melbourne Park for the season-opening of the Grand Slam competition in January.

The athlete withdrew from this season’s Australian Open and has played only one singles tour match in the last two years due to his knee, foot, and wrist injuries. Despite his absence in the court, Krygios has been active in television and broadcasting works.

Tiley shared: “Nick will be back…  We know he’s out there practising and preparing for the summer. He loves playing in Australia. We expect to see him back and we know he’s on track with that preparation.”

The 29-year-old athlete has been a major competitor at the Australian Open and has gained numerous support from his teammates. In the second round on his last singles appearance at the Melbourne Park in 2022, he lost in four sets to Daniil Medvedev.

He advanced to the Wimbledon final and US Open quarter-finals before his injuries took over and he needed to recover.

“A lot can play out in the next couple of months, but we look forward to seeing Nick back,” Tiley added.
