As Stefanos Tsitsipas considered the ‘difficult moments’ he had this season, he said he was humbled when he missed out on the ATP Finals for the first time since 2018.
In a social media post, he stated: “This year has shaped me in ways I never expected, and I’m grateful for the journey. Here’s to moving forward, stronger and wiser!”

Tsitsipas said: “Not making it into the ATP Finals this year was a humbling experience, teaching me the value of resilience and perspective.”
He added: “I strive for it, but I’ve learned that perfection doesn’t exist within me, and that’s okay. Even if you wish for it, it doesn’t come just by the thought of it. The real difference lies in execution and consistent effort.”
Tsitsipas’ athletic performance this 2024
Tsitsipas was ranked sixth in the world at the beginning of the season, but for the first time in five years, he ended up not in the top 10. He only won one title — in Monte Carlo. This was the highlight of his season because he won the title for the third time and secured his first Masters title in two years.
He finished the 2024 season with a 45–22 win–loss record. After qualifying for the ATP Finals for the previous five years in a row, he missed out on a spot in the season-ending tournament and finished at No. 11 in the rankings.
Furthermore, after separating from his father, Apostolos, as his coach, he advanced to the French Open quarter-finals and began working with Dimitris Chatzinikolaou, the captain of Greece in the Davis Cup.
The athlete declared: “Change isn’t necessarily a bad thing… It’s a process that requires patience and commitment…. Even if results don’t show right away. I trust that these changes will lead me to where I want to go.”
The 2025 season will begin with Tsitsipas playing for Greece in the United Cup. He aims to reach his peak performance once again after admitting his feeling that, at times, tennis “wasn’t important” anymore.
He further said: “If I have to say something about this year, it’s that I’m very proud of what I’m doing now, because my mind has had some very difficult moments this year and I wasn’t sure if I could continue playing tennis.”
“Tennis wasn’t important to me any more, going to tournaments wasn’t important to me any more. It’s been complicated because I never imagined I’d get to this point, but I’m proud of myself for the way I’ve handled the situations – because it hasn’t been easy,” he added.
