Tyson Fury

Tyson Fury, the WBC heavyweight champion, acknowledges that he was persuaded to return to boxing after becoming miserable while taking a few months off to rest and relax.

After taking a two-year break from the sport in the wake of shocking Wladimir Klitschko in 2015, he started to feel the same emotions that had overcome him.

Following his knockout victory over Dillian Whyte in April, Fury declared his retirement from competition.

However, a few months later, the unbeaten boxer was already discussing possible matches with Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk. On December 3 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Fury is slated to make a voluntary defense against Derek Chisora in a three-round bout.

Tyson Fury’s remarks

“I genuinely intended to retire after defeating Dillian Whyte in April, and I firmly believe that I have never been more certain in my life.

“Since I was writing my third book and producing a song for the World Cup while I was out of the ring for a few months, I was quite busy. However, I simply felt that without boxing, my life no longer had any meaning,” said Fury

“I’ve never felt so far behind 2015, 2016, or 2017 as I did during the four months I was retired. However, I had returned to that period in my life when things were terribly bleak and dull and there was no turning around for me. I’m not returning to box for a belt. In addition, I box because I want to make more money, win another five or twenty-five matches, or unite the division (my mental state).

“And without it, (my mental condition) is rapidly deteriorating, and I don’t know any other way to keep it sane,” the speaker continued. This is my heartfelt, brutally honest statement. I am not sure how to stop.

Fury thinks an uncontested match with Usyk can be made once he defeats Chisora.

Usyk now retains the WBO, IBF, IBO, and WBA titles after regaining the titles in August by defeating Joshua again by decision.

Because I don’t look past anything and you can’t count your chickens before they hatch, Fury added, “If Usyk can be made and they truly want the fight, then we’ll do that fight next assuming I win and everything goes properly.
