To further solidify his rising status as the best T20I hitter in the world, Suryakumar Yadav turned up yet another spectacular performance on Sunday.
The No. 4 batting position for India is already at the top of the ICC rankings, and against Zimbabwe, he produced an unbeaten 61 off just 25 deliveries to once again assist India in reaching a significant total. For the third time in the competition, Suryakumar has reached the fifty-run mark, and he once more played some mind-blowing shots.
Ravi Shastri, a former head coach of India, inquired about Suryakumar’s ramp shot, which resulted in the Indian batter hitting a six-over deep fine leg. In order to play the stroke, Surya described his preparation.
I rehearsed the stroke a lot when I used to play a lot of rubber-ball cricket. So, you had to be thinking about what the bowler is thinking at that time. “I mean you got to comprehend what the bowler is going to bowl at that time. That is a little predetermined at that moment.
Suryakumar Yadav’s remarks
According to Suryakumar, “If the field is in, I just back myself to go there.”
Shastri continued by questioning Suryakumar on the amount of wrist force needed to play that shot.
The middle-order hitter replied, “You must be aware of the length of the back boundary. From where I am standing, it seems like only 60 to 65 meters. I just try to time it with the ball’s pace and take it on the sweet spot of the bat; if it hits there, it goes all the way.”
India and England square off in the second semifinal on Friday in Adelaide.
The 32-year-old scored four goals in the opening game, and then in Hamilton, he went undefeated with 34. But he once again fell short, being out for just six runs in Christchurch’s final game.
Although Suryakumar Yadav rose to fame among Indian cricket fans in the run-up to the 2022 T20 World Cup, his performance in ODIs may cause some worry. He was dismissed in a similar manner in the just-finished three-match ODI series against New Zealand, scoring 4 and 6 in the first and third matches, respectively.
Even though he scored 34 in the second game, which was a counterattack, the similarities between his dismissals in the first game of the series and the last ODI did tell a narrative because he was caught edging the ball to the slip fielder in both instances.
Wasim Jaffer, a former cricketer for India, responded that the inclusion of a slip fielder has something to do with Sky’s recent stretch of scoreless innings.
“Yes, he was caught by the slip fielder in both ODIs, which is how he was out. There is no slip in T20 cricket, therefore you live. But as his career develops and more people speculate that he might play in Test matches, he must become better in this area,” he told ESPN Cricinfo.
In the opening game, the 32-year-old managed to score four goals, and in Hamilton, he then scored an unbeaten 34. He did, however, fall short once more as he was out for only 6 runs in Christchurch’s final game.
Ravi Shastri’s remarks on Suryakumar Yadav.

Former India men’s national coach Ravi Shastri had expressed his admiration at HIS fireworks, comparing him to AB de Villiers at his best, and said “he is one of the top T20 players in the world.”
“In the quickest format of the game in 2022, Surya made news by displaying magnificent strokes that very few people had ever had the chance to see.
“Surya is a top-tier player, if not the finest T20 player in the world. He is deadly and has a strong all-around game.
“On his best day, if he bats 30 to 40 balls, he will win you the game since he scores quickly and disenfranchises the opponent with his style of play. He resembles AB de Villiers in his prime quite a little.
“After India’s second match against New Zealand,” Shastri told Prime Video that Surya can deflate the opposition just like AB did when he played one of those amazing innings.
Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli had a great deal of respect for one another. Suryakumar was counseled to be prepared for difficult times by Kohli, who also discussed his approach to dealing with failures.
Since making his T20I debut against England approximately two years ago, Suryakumar Yadav has enjoyed an unheard-of run in the competition. Virat Kohli, though, had a brief period of similar, and possibly even better success in other forms before a slump in form in 2019 set the former India captain back.
This is only for him to make another rousing comeback since the Asia Cup the previous year. After hitting his 45th ODI century. This brought him one more century away from matching Sachin Tendulkar’s record 49 ODI centuries.
What Virat Kohli told Suryakumar

Virat Kohli told Suryakumar Yadav to be prepared to “take a couple of steps back” when things don’t go his way.
After ending a three-year drought for an ODI century with a brilliant performance against Bangladesh in Mirpur last month. Kohli proved to the world that he is once again at the top of his game by slamming another hundred in the first ODI against Sri Lanka on Tuesday in Guwahati.
The Rohit Sharma-led team won the match by 67 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series thanks to Kohli’s 113 off just 87 balls. This helped India post a massive 373 for 7 at the Barsapara Stadium. Kohli was interviewed by Suryakumar Yadav for BCCI.tv after the victory.
Between the two, there was a great deal of respect. When Suryakumar questioned Kohli about his mantra, the latter talked openly about his approach to dealing with setbacks and gave him advice to be prepared for difficult times.
“Runs were pouring out of your bat for approximately 4-5 years, but there was a drop in the last 1-2 years. What did you do during that time so that you can again have started to reap the benefits in 2023?”
Suryakumar, who wasn’t selected for the opening ODI, questioned Kohli.
On Tuesday, Kohli, who had missed the first three T20 matches, was making a comeback. Kohli struck 12 fours and a six. However, even six months ago, things for the talismanic batter were far from ideal.
He had to stop playing cricket for a while following a protracted lean period. Last year, when he returned to the Indian team for the Asia Cup, he smashed his first century in over three years. From that point forward, he gets his mojo back.
Kohli then stated, “In the post-game, I expressed the same sentiment (presentation). Currently, as you play more and more, you’ll also encounter the same thing. It will change how people view you. People now predict that Suryakumar will take action when he goes out to play.
“That is a highly demanding process to keep up with. These things flow smoothly; for example, cricket is played in a clear and understandable manner. When there is a downturn, however, frustration can set in because, in my case, I wanted to play the way I do and live up to expectations, but cricket wasn’t letting me. The time frame was difficult. I strayed from the game plan because of that.”
The Indian selectors came under fire from the former Pakistani cricketer, Danish Kaneria after Suryakumar Yadav engineered Team India’s stunning victory over New Zealand.
In the second T20I on Sunday, Team India easily defeated New Zealand by a score of 65 runs because of Suryakumar Yadav’s play.
At Mount Maunganui’s Bay Oval, Suryakumar, who had been moved up to bat at No. 3, hammered a game-changing century to enable Team India, which was playing without Rohit Sharma, to take a 1-0 series lead. As a result of his outstanding batting performance against the T20 World Cup 2022 semifinalist, the in-form batsman was voted Player of the Match.

Suryakumar gave a hint that he is getting close to making his eagerly anticipated Test debut after leading Team India to an emphatic victory over the Kane Williamson-led team.
Only 13 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 41 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) have the 32-year-old batsman played for India. Danish Kaneria, a former cricketer for Pakistan, lashed out at the selectors for giving Suryakumar a last-minute chance, saying that they wasted the best batter’s most formative years in cricket.
“The five years Suryakumar Yadav spent as a selection were lost. He has made up for a lost time, though, by consistently demonstrating his prowess at the highest level. Every single expert we consult today is speaking about Suryakumar.”
India crushed New Zealand in the middle game of the three-match series, with top-ranked batsman Suryakumar scoring 111 runs off 52 balls and remaining unblemished. It is anticipated that the effective hitter will end the New Zealand series with the most runs scored.
Tuesday’s third and final T20I of the bilateral series will feature the flamboyant batsman leading the batting onslaught for the Virat Kohli-less team.
“Suryakumar Yadav is still acting in beast mode. Prior to the T20 World Cup, he began, continued during the World Cup, and is currently continuing in New Zealand.
“He was outstanding. He uses all available space on the field because of the manner he bats. In the history of cricket, no player has ever made shots like these. In the face of his assault, the bowlers frequently appear absolutely defenseless,” Kaneria continued.
Highlights from the second Twenty20 match between India and New Zealand: Suryakumar Yadav made a brilliant unbeaten century before the Indian bowlers put up a collective bowling performance to defeat New Zealand by 65 runs and grab a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
New Zealand struggled to build solid partnerships while chasing 192 because they often lost wickets.
India’s victory over New Zealand at the Bay Oval on Sunday by a score of 65 runs marked the beginning of the transition phase following the world cup.
Suryakumar Yadav’s strokes
The form of one Suryakumar Yadav, who produced an innings full of breathtaking strokes all over the field en route to a brilliant unbeaten century – his second of his T20I career – did not change, despite India’s attempts to resurrect their T20I blueprint.
Tim Southee took a hat-trick in the penultimate over, but he was still unbeaten at 111, and it was only because of his blitz that India managed to post a problematic 191/6 in 20 overs. In response, New Zealand lost Finn Allen for a duck in the first over and failed to recover.
Prior to the spinners applying the squeeze in the middle overs and putting them under further pressure, regular strikes kept them on the back foot.
Whenever the designated big hitters went out of the game, Kane Williamson managed to hold one end with a valiant half-century, but the pace at which it was delivered wasn’t going to help them. They were eventually bowled out for 125, with Deepak Hooda taking 4/10, including 3 in one over. Tuesday will see the third and final T20I match.
India won by 65 runs
Even though it’s not a hat trick, Deepak Hooda manages to dismiss Adam Mile in the next over after Arshdeep Singh caught him at long-off. He obtained a 6. New Zealand has bowled out for 126 in 18.5 Overs thanks to Hooda, who finishes with 4/10 from 2.5 Overs. India leads the three-match series 1-0.
Nasser Hussain, a former England captain, has criticized the Men in Blue’s opening batting despite the Men in Blue’s ability to go to the T20 World Cup semifinals in Australia.
Hussain claims that Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, the opening batsmen for Men in Blue, are both opening in an “outdated” manner.

Since 2013, an ICC trophy has eluded a nation that is a powerhouse in cricket. MS Dhoni was still the captain of India when it last triumphed at an ICC competition, the 2013 Champions Trophy. Currently, the team is being led by Rohit Sharma.
India finished first in Group 2 and advanced to the semifinals, where they will play England on Thursday. India had four victories in their five games to finish first. But Rohit Sharma’s performance hasn’t quite lived up to expectations.
With the exception of a half-century against the Netherlands, he struggled to score heavily against Pakistan (four), South Africa (15), Bangladesh (2), and Zimbabwe (15). KL Rahul, who opens with Rohit and has so far scored two half-centuries, is in the better form overall, although he also struggled in the first three games.
Nasser Hussain, a former captain of England, has criticized the pair for their “traditional” style of play.
Nasser Hussain’s statement
“They have underperformed in international competitions, you must admit. When working for Sky last summer, their former coach Ravi Shastri said they needed to adjust the way they sometimes played hesitant cricket with the bat for the players they had “Hussain published a piece in his Daily Mail column.

“Although Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul do play somewhat traditionally in the opening few overs, India has benefited from this strategy throughout the tournament since the ball has moved around early on. India must be more dynamic if they are to win World Cups, which is why Suryakumar Yadav, also known as SKY, has been so crucial.”
Suryakumar, who has 225 runs in five games at the T20 World Cup, received lavish praise from Hussain.
“At three and four, where Virat Kohli is still the coach and now has a sizable apprentice in SKY, India will become more dynamic. In the group stage at Melbourne, Kohli’s knock against Pakistan was the best white-ball innings I can recall seeing.
“He played several fantastic strokes at the end, such as smashing Haris Rauf right back over his head for six and timed his innings in an impressive manner. Any professional cricketer who saw that on television would have stood up and exclaimed, “Wow!” Hussain penned.”
India has now advanced to the semifinal of the T20 World Cup four times. They have only ever won the competition once, in 2007.
