At the Italian Open, tennis pro Novak Djokovic showed off his good sportsmanship with a dose of comedy. The world champion politely put on a bike helmet and signed autographs for fans, even though he had an incident during training where a metal water bottle struck him in the head.

Taking the incident in stride, Djokovic made light of himself the day after the container slid from a fan’s backpack during his brief wobble during his Rome second-round victory.

The tough 36-year-old Serbian, a 24-time Grand Slam champion, needed help from a watchful security guard to make it to the changing rooms after taking a dramatic tumble during the match. Even though he skipped his usual press conference after the game, the tournament officials acknowledged that doctors evaluated him right away.

Djokovic gave supporters a comforting update via X when he was out of the spotlight, saying he was “fine” and recovering at his hotel with an ice pack for comfort.

“I appreciate your expressions of worry, but I’m alright. I’m sleeping in the hotel with an ice pack. This was an accident. Until Sunday, see you all.” Novak said to newsky.com

After his match, Novak Djokovic was leaving Centre Court with grace when something unexpected happened: he was signing autographs when a water bottle hit him in the head.

Shortly after receiving emergency medical assistance, Djokovic left the Foro Italico and returned to his hotel. Thankfully, he is comforting and there is no reason to be concerned.

It was an unexpected occurrence that happened after Djokovic, who had not played a match since over a month ago, defeated French qualifier Corentin Moutet 6-3, 6-1 in his opening round at the Italian Open.

As the world’s most famous tennis player moves through the competition and displays his skills on the court against the backdrop of this new event, everyone’s attention is focused on him. He is scheduled to face Chilean Alejandro Tabilo in the round of 32 on Sunday.
