Raducanu: Dilema
The French Tennis Federation granted eight wild cards for men and eight for women, including invites to the French veterans Alize Cornet and Richard Gasquet.
Recently, Cornet announced she is retiring following her final match at Roland Garros. After making her Grand Slam debut in 2005, Cornet will return to the French Open for the 20th time in a row. There, she has advanced to the fourth round twice. Moreover, Gasquet made it all the way to the quarterfinals of the French Open in 2016, but he hasn’t advanced past the third round of Roland Garros since. He reached the semifinals of the US Open once and twice at Wimbledon in other majors.
Additionally, Australian Adam Walton qualified the men’s division, while Americans Sachia Vickery and Ajla Tomljanovic joined the women’s division. As a condition of an agreement with Tennis Australia and the United States Tennis Association, they received wild cards.
