Scheffler

After welcoming their first child, world number one Scottie Scheffler believes he is “as prepared as possible” for the US PGA Championship. The two-time winner of the Masters has been practicing in Louisville, Kentucky’s Valhalla Golf Club in an effort to win a third major championship.

Because his son’s birth was not publicly confirmed, his participation in the competition had been uncertain. But now, he is more than ready to play.

In an Instagram post, the athlete announced the birth of his son publicly by stating: “Welcome to the world little one. Your mom & dad love you so much.”

“I had high expectations of what that would feel like [to be a dad] and those were far exceeded. I thought it would be pretty great and it’s a pretty amazing feeling,” Scheffler also admitted in an interview.

He added: “If anybody has got any diaper advice, I could use it.”

Ever since winning the Masters at Augusta National in April, Scheffler had been looking forward to the arrival of his first child. Despite having a three-week hiatus from the game to spend time with his family, Scheffler stated that his preparations for the second major of the golf season have gone “pretty decent”.

The athlete stated: “It took a little longer than anticipated for him to come, but I was able to get some good prep work in. Obviously, not my usual stuff with him being born in the middle of last week; I took a more significant break than I would have, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
